The Effect of Sulphate on Length Change of Concrete
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sulphates usually affect calcium aluminates in cements. Sulphate ions might have negative effects on cement hydration and it would be a reason of decrease in cement strength. In this study, the effects of Na2SO4 solution on the concretes made from OPC with oil shale ash (OSA) addition (0, 15 and 30%) were investigated. Concretes with 15% OSA gave the lowest value of Length Change Factor (LCF). Addition of an optimum amount of superplasticizer increases positive properties of the concrete with 15% OSA addition, binds free Ca(OH)2 in OPC, makes its composition more effective, prevents massive alkali-aggregates reactions showing that this addition rate is proper.

In present study, the effect of reservoir length on seismic performance of concrete gravity dam has been investigated. Monte Carlo probabilistic analysis has been used to achieve a sensitivity of the responses to variation of truncated reservoir length in finite element model. The ANSYS software based on finite element method is applied for modeling and analysis. The Pine Flat dam in California...
متن کاملThe Effect of Six-Legged Concrete Elements on Hydraulic Jump Characteristics
In the present study, the six legged concrete (SLC) elements are placed at the bed of a flume downstream of a chute in different layouts, densities and number of longitudinal rows of SLC elements. Each test was run for different flow conditions (Froude numbers ranged 5.3 to 8.1). During each test, the water surface profile, the roller length and the jump length measured. Applying the experimen...

The aim of this study was to elevate the effect of stocking density of 20, 25 and 30 fish/m3 on some growth parameters and skin color of Koi fry (Cyprinus carpio) with the mean weight of 1.9 ±0.8 g (±SE) in the concrete ponds, earthen ponds, and fiberglass tanks with the total capacity of 1000 L for 45 days. The highest Final weight (12.38±1.9 g), Final length (10.05±1.06 cm), Body weight incre...
متن کاملMechanical Behavior of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced High Strength Concrete with Graded Fibers
Brittleness, which was the inherent weakness in High Strength Concrete (HSC), can be avoided by reinforcing the concrete with discontinuous fibers. Reinforcing HSC with more than one fiber is advantageous in an overall improvement of the mechanical performance of the composite. In this experimental study, Hybrid Fiber Reinforced High Strength Concrete (HyFR-HSC) mixes were formed by blending si...
